  30. PC-Ditto will use any TOS partition.  It would prefer to muck with C:.
  31. (See below also.).  MAC, if done by Spectre or Magic Sac, will  gladly take
  32. a TOS partition (empty I hope), destroy it, and make it its own.  At which
  33. time it will be known as ACK.  SO,
  34.  
  35. You must have a partition for MAC, and at least one for TOS/PC-Ditto.
  36. Because of how MAC uses partitions I would recommend:

  38. 30 Meg total:
  39.         First for TOS, will be called C: 10 meg or so
  40.         Second for TOS, will be called D: 9 meg or so.  Or just one for 19 Meg.
  41. (16 meg max  for TOS 1.1)  Use TOS for  PC-Ditto.
  42.         Third for MAC, 1 meg: used to 'boot' up mac. -- read manual.
  43.         Forth for MAC, 9 meg: or more; use for data storage. (The more the better).

  52. The letters are assigned by TOS and the driver.  It is not in the partitioning.
  53. First TOS partition is C:
  54. Second TOS partition is D:
  55. If the partitions are labeled in a different order, first TOS means just that,
  56. not the FIRST one.

  58. A Ramdisk must be COMPILED or CONFIGURED for is letter.  if you want it to be
  59. G:, and do not know how to configure it, its probably hardwired to be C:.

  99. Well, there is one program that you could try for fairly cheap, and it just
  100. might do the trick.  It is called Sci-Plot, on the Nov 88 Start disk.  I would
  101. order the back issue, if possible, to get the program instructions (inside the
  102. mag).  It is a very capable program, giving one access to a custom font set
  103. which includes greek letters and math symbols (one can also create a new font
  104. for a specific task).  The only problem that I can see is the output to your
  105. Deskjet.  I seem to remember that it can output to the printer in high or
  106. low res (??), and that the high res looks really good (on my cruddy dot matrix)
  107. it can also create a PI3 dump of the graph.  Anyway, if you cannot get a back
  108. issue of that mag, email me direct, and maybe we can work something out.

  154. Multidesk, by Codehead Software does this.  It is a very well behaved program,
  155. and is one of the little necessities (USII, G+PLUS, Neodesk) that makes the
  156. ST just a little bit easier to work with.

  175. Can someone out there tell me what memory speed is required for the
  176. STe or standard ST. (I suspect 100ns) Also if I use faster memory such
  177. as 70ns will asyncronous tasks such as burst filling a 16Mhz
  178. Hypercache or DMA access will these be faster?

  180. With the new MMU in the STe and spare/reserved bit patterns in the
  181. memory configuration can the STE's memory be expanded beyond 4MB. (I
  182. guess adding a new bank size of 8MB would be possible thus allowing
  183. the full 16MB of address space.) any comments?

  201. a desktop screen using ALT-HELP command.  Is there anything I need to

  231. During  the last few weeks a great amount of band width has been taken
  232. up on the subject of TOS bugs and the  coresponding  fixes.  Being  an
  233. owner  of an STE (I previously owned a STfm) I would realy apriciate a
  234. list of known bugs and the required  fix  program.  So  which  of  the
  235. following effect TOS 1.6.
  236.  
  237.    RTS/CTS problem on the RS232.
  238.    Pool size bug (as per FolderXXX fix)
  239.    Pool bug (as per POOLFIX3)
  240.    Medium res bug.

  242. Also  I  have  noticed  that  when double clicking on a .prg file I am
  243. sometimes told that this file can only be SHOWN or PRINTED. Yet  if  I
  244. try it again (Or perhaps a few times) it will run fine.

  246.    Any others I have missed out.

  248. So,  which fixes are required and where can I obtain them? Would it be
  249. possible to bundle all of  these  into  an  archive  and  post  it  to
  250. com.sys.binaries.atari.st.  (as  was  done  with  the  TOS  1.4  fixes
  251. recently) and if so perhaps bundle the following also.
